My current project: an historical trilogy set in Australia’s earliest colonial days, has led to a side-project Mindful White Fellas, accessible via this website and on social media.

Mindful White Fellas offers resources and reflections for non-indigenous Australians seeking awareness and allyship with First Nations people.

The resources are intended to support non-indigenous writers tackling both historical and contemporary subject matter, but will assist anyone seeking to increase their understanding of the tragic impact of British settlement on First Nations People and the reality of on-going systemic racism in contemporary Australian society.

My favorite non-indigenous authors addressing issues of truth-telling and accountability are: Richard Flanagan (Wanting), Peter Carey (A Long Way from Home), Rohan Wilson (The Roving Party) and Paul Daley (Jesustown, The Leap).

Mindful White Fellas will officially launch in a few months, so stay tuned for more information!
